A significant rainfall event across South Gippsland Shire triggered up to nine separate roadside slope failures across Trida and Wild Dog Valley, from instability in cut slopes to embankment failures along partially filled road formations and larger ground movements extending downslope across difficult, complex terrain. Geotesta was engaged to assess the damage and design the remediation.
Work began with site surveillance and site-specific investigation programs, including soil and rock drilling, sampling and assessment at each affected location. Drone surveying mapped the full extent of the failures, generating 3D photogrammetry models and contours that supported detailed slope stability analysis using specialist software.
From there, Geotesta developed remediation options, prepared design drawings and specifications, and provided construction cost estimates, working collaboratively with South Gippsland Shire’s engineers and project managers to select practical, cost-effective solutions. Rather than handing over a report and stepping back, Geotesta went on to supervise the remedial works, restoring safe road access across the affected valleys while reducing the risk of further slope instability.
