Geotesta was engaged by CYP to deliver geotechnical engineering and technical support across key components of the Melbourne Metro Project, one of Victoria’s largest and most complex pieces of transport infrastructure. The scope centred on the Western Work Package, covering the Arden and Parkville station precincts, along with works at Domain Station and the project’s precast yard.
At the Western Work Package, Geotesta’s role was hands-on and construction-embedded: geotechnical excavation mapping, bored pile logging, ground anchor logging, geotechnical instrumentation, further site investigations, and compaction and earthworks testing, providing the ground condition data and quality assurance needed as excavation progressed metres below the city. At Domain Station and the precast yard, the focus shifted to geotechnical assessment of excavations, groundwater monitoring and temporary works evaluations to keep construction safe and efficient.
Working closely with designers, contractors and project stakeholders throughout, Geotesta helped manage ground-related risk across one of Melbourne’s most technically demanding construction sites, contributing to the delivery of a landmark piece of underground rail infrastructure.
